MSA completes 38th Annual Annual General Meeting
53 club delegates convened in Jackson, MS on January 29, 2012 for the Annual Business of the Association. All officers reported and Committee Chairs reported on the respective programs. The financial report was adopted by the membership and members were advised that MSA will host a meeting with the Center for Non-Profits later this year to assist the member organizations.
Annual Coaching and Referee award winners were presented and certificates were presented to the clubs that achieved or exceeded prior years member growth.
A proposal to remove territorial boundaries was narrowly defeated by 8 votes. The measure was designed to allow players to not have to seek releases before signing up with an organization. The accompanying policy changes were withdrawn and an additional bylaw change failed as well.
Election results:
Secretary elect: Ed Goyette
Treasurer: Gene Phillips (incumbent)
Adult Vice President: Lane Smith (incumbent)
Division II Vice President elect: Tom Velek
Division I Vice President: Jeff Martella
President Elect: Doug Kitchens
Mr Kitchens' opponent did not attend the meeting and no one rose to offer the name for nomination. All new officers will mirror their retiring counterparts and assume office on September 1st.
Upon being presented a memento of his service, President Dodd reminisced of his eight year term and announced that he is contemplating accepting a position on the National Board.
President Dodd will become the Past President on the incoming Board.
