Western District
Western District Report I am sure the financial impact was not what was planned by CSA, but their efforts and willingness to step forward as hosts has long proven they are a leader within the Western District. You can always count on their organization to say, “We will.” In spite of all the weather issues we had, the Parents, Coaches and Teams made it a successful tournament. They endured constant aggravation from the elements, the inconvenience of moving, and the late night revamping of schedules. To the Referees that were flexible, thank you for moving with us to get the games completed. Some of you endured some pretty hard rain Saturday night to finish off the games for the evening. Although there were a few issues we could not fix, we were able to shift the tournament and finish all of the younger age groups that were long distance travelers. This was enabled by the understanding and willingness of the U14-19’s to push their schedules out into this week. Thank you all for working with us for the good of the game. I was very proud of the attitudes I saw this weekend, and the sportsmanship displayed proved to me that we have coaches truly capable of teaching both life skills and soccer skills to our players. Your dedication to the kids and the sport is appreciated. This tournament would not have been possible without Barbara Brent, Tony Walker, Al Camara, Doug Kitchens and David Dodd. Their willingness to burn the midnight oil made this work out for the best. Since we had no place to go, Kim Quarles, the Central District Director, working with her clubs, Brandon Youth Soccer and Pearl Youth Soccer, took us in and gave us a place to finish out the weekend. To Jeff Prewitt, David Roberts, and Bill Green we owe a hearty thank you for taking us in. To those teams that will represent our district at Kohl’s cup, make us proud!
